Steampunkapalooza Prizeapalooza–Ends 4/30/12

April 8, 2012 by suzannelazear

I have a special contest and the more people who enter, the more prizes I’ll add.  It’s not going to be easy though.

The grand prize is a super-rare signed ARC of Innocent Darkness, a facinator, swag, and Noli’s necklace.

There will be two categories.  In each category:

First Prize: Steampunk Wrist Molocular

Second Prize: Captain Jules’ Extraordinary Telescope ring

Third Prize: Mystery Bag of Books and Stuff

(Prizes subject to change.  The more people who enter, the more prizes we’ll add)  Special thanks to the awesome folks at ThinkGeek.)

And the contest is…

Send me your gadgets.  Yes, I want pictures and drawings of your cool steampunk gadgets.  It doesn’t have to work, it can be silly, practical, fancy, or utalitatian.  It could be an alien detector, a blinged-out “raygun”, a cupcake cannon, really anything goes.

I’m looking for:

a) Pictures or video of steampunk gadgets you or someone else has made (if someone else made it, please let us know who).   Please make sure you have the right/permission to send it, ie don’t take a pic off someone’s site and send it in. We want things you made, or that you bought that someone made for you, or that your spouse/friend made, etc.

b) Sketches/pictures/schematics of a steampunk gadget you’d like to/wish you could make (it doesn’t have to actually work–be creative!)  We want your work and idea, not someone else’s, please.

Sending us your picture/video/drawing means you give us permission to post it here, and that you have the right to submit it in the first place.  (Also, please don’t send us NSFW stuff.)

Oh, there will be a special prize for my favorite steampunk cupcake/candy/bacon cannon, if anyone actually enters one (sketches included.)

To enter:  Please post links videos below along with a description of the gadget along with your same and who made the gadget if it’s not you (again, please make sure you have the permission/right to enter it).  The story behind the gadget can be as important as the gadget itself.  Creativity Counts.  Please email YOUR sketches/photos of YOUR gadget, with a description of it along with your name.  Email to suzannelazear (@) yahoo with GADGET CONTEST in the subject line.  Open internationally.  If you’re under 18 please make sure you have your parent’s permission to enter.  Contest closes 11:59 PM PST April 30, 2012.

Good luck and don’t hesitate to ask questions.  You can post them here.

Ok I REALLY want to win! I’ll take pics of what I have tomorrow and maybe try to draw up an outfit or something that I’m really wanting. I really cant draw though, so we’ll see how that goes. Love these prizes though!
