Christmas in August–Hallmark Yoda Ornament

August 1, 2011 by suzannelazear

In between my mad dash to my deadline for ID and my two vacations this month, I need some posts that are quick and easy.

So, this month is Christmas in August.

Every Monday I’ll have a new giveaway for you.

To kick everything off I have a christmasy giveaway for you.  (Though most of them are books.)

As a kid, I had fond memories of trips to the Hallmark store with my mom.  I always loved to look at the pretty ornaments.

My sister is fond of them and often gets them for me for Christmas.

I married into a family full of Star Wars fans, so I love their Star Wars ornaments for presents.

They just debuted their 2011 ornaments and I have to say,  Yoda is  my favorite.  (But who doesn’t love Yoda?)

He’s about 2 1/2 inches tall, designed by artist Kristina Gaughran, and talks!  I know exactly who he’ll make a good present for.  I’m one of those people who starts their Holiday shopping around now.

You can win a Yoda of your own.  Just comment below for a chance to win.  Contest closes August 14, 2011 at 11:59 PST.  North American only please. (Sorry, International contest next week :))

What’s your favorite Christmas ornament of all time?  Have you started your shopping yet?

My fave of all time. That’s so hard… there was an odd Pegasus that I *had* to put on myself every year as a kid, but I also have a tiny little otter with a scarf on riding a shell like a sled. I adore him.

Definitely haven’t started my shopping. Should start my *making*, but haven’t done anything.

    Yoda? Favorite he is.

Ornament of him, I have not.

    All Star Wars love aside…

my favorite (other than all the ornaments my son made at school) of all time is a tin horse captured in full gallop… it cost all of a dollar at Calico Ghost town… and while it is rusted and bent… i still love it…

My favorite Christmas ornament? That’s a tough question. I have sooo many that are special for some reason, but I really love this little santa ornament in a plastic bubble that my Mom gave me. My Grandma had one just like it and it always brings back memories of Christmas with the family when I was little….

I used to work at Hallmark for four years when I was a teenager and loved it. The ornament debut weekend was always my fave, even though we would always get the dreaded question “Christmas in July already!” lol. I have so many favorites I have bought. But one that is very close to my heart is a sister ornament, it is two squirrels and they are dressing up in their mothers clothes and jewels and they are sitting in a jewelry box with a mirror. As soon as I saw that ornament I had to have it, my sister and I used to do the exact same thing :).
And the Star Wars ornaments were always cool, those were always an autobuy for me.

I’ve got a Cat In The Hat (with Goldie 😉 ) and a Christmas gargoyle that I must put on the Christmas tree every year. I try to do Christmas shopping during the year (see something & think if it would make a cool Christmas present).
Yoda would I LOVE to put on my tree too!

Love Yoda, but then who doesn’t?

My favorite… that’s a tough one. I used to have a simple porcelain oval with a black and white kitty sitting in a window, with snow outside. I loved that one because it looked just like my cat. I also loved my horsehead icicle, and I had a collection of reindeer ornaments that I added to every year.

This makes me think of Origami Yoda. I would actually love to win this for The Nerd’s Wife – for the nerdling baby boy she is expecting right around Christmas time.

My favorite ornament is the one I have that looks like a book. Surprised? I bet you aren’t.

We are a greyhound household, have two of our own and foster one in addition. As a joke my brother got us a silly greyhound angel. My husband and I loved it! Of course, it sits on the top of the tree every year and is my favorite ornament. We are both Star Wars fans and would love to add a Yoda to our small ornament collection.
