The desert Southwest is so full of writerly potential. Lightly populated, folks heavily dependent on the native resources, and yet fancy tech was simply a long train ride away, just waiting to be shipped out west. Looking forward to your sequel to Owl Dance.

Being a New Mexican for a few decades now, I have a lot of appreciation for this post – steampunk is so welcome in the Southwest and fits in quite nicely. The desert Southwest was lightly populated and the people depended heavily on native resources….and they had easy access to advanced tech because the east coast was just a long train ride away. I really look forward to seeing what you do with the sequel to Owl Dance.

Melissa, thank you so much. AP, you’re very sweet. I’ve never minded my height–especially since I’ve got a 6’3″ other half for getting things off high shelves. I think my main point is that it’s not just the clothes that make you feel good and therefore to take good pictures. It’s the people. And the steampunk crowd is some of the best I’ve ever met.

First of all, after reading the title of the post, I had to go through the pictures several times because you do not look old enough to be a granny. Second, you are gorgeous. True, make-up, clothing, lighting and all that other stuff can help, but there has to be a base to go off of. Lastly, there is nothing wrong with being short. It just means you can get tall people to reach up for you.

Diana, you’re right–it’s not JUST the clothing. Part of it is just the acceptance and pleasure of being around good people. It allows us to feel our best, which makes us look our best.

Ok, Seriously you two look fantastic and it is not just the clothing, or hair or whatever. You should feel beautiful. It is a great photo of you two, and I am so glad you came out to play. Lots of hugs. Also, you do not look anywhere near the age you claim to be. I say claim as I am still not sure I believe it. (wink!)
